As a Dutch company, Prins likes to work as local as possible. For example, we co-operate a lot with sheltered employment in our hometown Veenendaal, we call in regional companies for maintenance and technology, our packaging is made in the EU and the meat, poultry and fish in our dog and cat food come from Western Europe as much as possible from suppliers who we know and trust well.

Below we have listed for you where the animal proteins we use for our pressed kibble come from:

  • Chicken/poultry

Chicken and poultry like turkey are two of the most commonly used animal ingredients in our diets. The meat is rich in protein, the muscle meat and carcass are a good source of calcium and intestines such as the heart, lungs, liver, stomach and kidneys also provide vitamins and minerals. We mainly use chicken and turkey from the Netherlands and Germany.

Good to know
The animals we use in our meals come from registered slaughterhouses that are on the list of inspected and vet approved locations. We find that very important in the context of animal welfare!

  • Duck

Duck is a protein source that many animals have probably not eaten before. Therefore chances that a hypersensitivity reaction will occur are low. We mainly use duck from the Netherlands and Germany.

  • Lamb

Lamb is a protein source mainly used for animals with skin, coat or gastrointestinal problems. Prins uses lamb from Norway.

  • Herring

Herring contains a lot of omega 3 fatty acids that support a good skin and coat condition, have an anti-inflammatory effect and are important for the development of the nervous system in young animals. The herring we use comes from the Norwegian Sea.

Good to know
Prins uses sustainable herring with the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) label. This is a quality label for sustainable fishing, which causes as little damage as possible to marine life.
