Did you know that about three-quarters of dogs and cats older than three years suffer from dental problems? That causes a lot of hidden pain! We are happy to help you with advice and tips for healthy cat teeth.

Inspect your cat’s mouth

Prins Play & Care reward cream can be a useful training aid when inspecting your cat's mouth. Spread a little Play & Care on your finger and let your cat lick the paste off your finger. At the same time you can gently run your finger over his lips and teeth: voilà, the beginning of the inspection. Attention: do you see dental plaque or red gums? Then bring your cat to the vet.

Brushing, brushing, brushing...

Brushing a cat’s teeth is quite the job, but it's easier if you teach your cat this when he’s still young. For toothbrushing you can use a (finger) toothbrush and special toothpaste for pets. Don't use a human toothpaste that contains fluoride and foams too much.

Chewing is important!

Specially designed

Did you know that the kibbles of Prins VitalCare Indoor are designed in such a way that the cat needs to chew more? That contributes to healthy teeth! And did you know that the kibbles of VitalCare Adult Maxi and VitalCare Protection Maxi DeLuxe are specially adapted to the chewing behaviour of bigger cats and are also easy to pick up for cats with a shorter nose?

Older cats

Sometimes older cats miss teeth, causing bad eating behaviour. You can soak their kibble in lukewarm water to soften them. This also gives the food an extra smell, cats love it! Serving tip: give your cat a small meal a few times a day.
