In order to introduce children to pets at an early age, the Dutch family company Prins Petfoods introduces a special education program for primary schools. The ‘Prins & Puck’ education program uses the characters Prins the dog, Puck the cat and their young owners Sem and Rose to familiarize children from four to eight years old with the basics of pet care in a playful way.

Free of charge

Primary schools can order an interactive Prins & Puck teaching package free of charge. This package includes worksheets, the Prins & Puck Pet Game, a reading book and a special Animal Friends booklet for each student. With these teaching materials, schools can organize a ‘Week of the Pet’, that covers five central themes: having a pet, exercise & play, nutrition, behaviour & communication and pet care. Schools can discuss a theme every day for a week, but it is also possible to spread the lessons over a longer period of time.

Pet store visit

When a primary school orders the teaching package, Prins will invite the local pet store to organize a Prins & Puck event. Children can visit this event with their parents or guardians and receive a voucher which they can bring to the pet store to pick up a Prins & Puck surprise.
