We have a three-year old Border Collie male, Guinness. He wasn't afraid of thunder or fireworks, until lightning struck next to a church a few years ago. Guinness was at home with my boyfriend at the time. The windows shook in their frames and it must have been an infernal noise. Ever since, Guinness has been terrified because of this traumatic experience. He displays lots of signs of fear, up to actually howling. It got worse with every thunderstorm, until our poor fellow just didn't know what to do with himself anymore.

I thought 'it couldn't hurt to try', so I bought a so-called Thundershirt for him and halfway through November we started feeding him Prins Resist, following the recommendation of the Prins CareTeam and after reading lots of positive testimonials. There were no thunderstorms up to New Year's, so we couldn't notice any difference in Guinness. We just had to wait and see.

On the 29th, 30th and 31st of December, Guinness wore the Thundershirt fulltime and the final week before New Year's we upped his amount of food a little. Fortunately, we live in a relatively small village with mainly older residents, which limits the amount of loud fireworks during New Year's Eve. I have nothing but praise for the food; Guinness has had a great New Year's compared to previous years. He wasn't pacing, howling, screaming, hiding or literally climbing up the walls with fear, only a mild shiver and a little whining every now and then. He was able to lay in his bed quietly, pretty relaxed and very calm.

Prins Resist was our last hope and it worked!

Where he refused to go outside before 2 p.m. on the 1st of January last year, Guinness now came along for his walk at 1 a.m. without any problems. He did his business without hesitation, and it may sound silly, but this was quite a victory for us. When we came home, we decided to go to sleep despite the fact that fireworks were still going off in the distance. Guinness immediately went to sleep, without the Thundershirt and without any stress or fear and stayed asleep until 10 a.m. the next morning.

Dear Prins employees, developers, testers and others: THANK YOU! Thank you on behalf of our Guinness, who no longer has to fear New Year's. We were desperate and had even considered putting him under general anaesthesia to make him sleep through this stressful night. Prins Resist was our last hope and it worked! It works like a charm.

Lots of love,
Kim Dusch
& a high five and lick from Guinness of course!
