Good food alone is not enough, good feeding is just as important! We would like to give you some feeding tips for your cat.

  • Do not change the food too often during your cat's life. Changes can cause fluctuations in the acidity of the urine. This is a risk for the development of cystitis.
  • Do not give your cat too much supplementary food. This can cause overweight.
  • Do you want to pamper your cat in a responsible way? Give it a tasty wet food from the Prins NatureCare range as a change.
  • Offer chunks in a so-called food ball or food puzzle. This way you can encourage your cat to get more exercise and take up a challenge. Active cats have a lower risk of obesity, the formation of bladder stones and stress!

Switching

If you are switching from a different food to Prins food, we recommend that you make the transition with mixing. Mix more and more of the new food with the old food for seven days until you have made the switch completely.

Feeding method

You are not there yet with just good food, good feeding is just as important! The ancestors of our domestic cat went hunting when they got hungry. Wild cats also hunt their meal together. A hunting party costs a lot of energy and is not always successful. In addition, the spoils are often small and therefore require a lot of hunting to absorb enough nutrients. Our housecats are often not used to chase their meal, but you can make their meal exciting. Check out some great tips here!

Food is a great tool to strengthen the bond between you and your cat.

Several meals a day

Cats are naturally very accustomed to ingesting small amounts of food, spread out over day and night. To mimic this natural situation as closely as possible, you can offer the day's amount of food spread throughout the day. Food is a great tool to strengthen the bond between you and your cat.

Ad libitum: self service

You can also feed your cat ad libitum. This means that the cat has unlimited food at its disposal. The cat can decide for itself when and how much it wants to eat. However, the bond with your animal, as described above, is stronger if you offer the food at fixed times. Cats are very sensitive to this. It’s also important when feeding ad libitum that you keep a close eye on your cat's condition. 'Selfservice' can lead to obesity with some cats.

Do not forget the water!

Also important: make sure there’s enough fresh water and place several water bowls in the house. This will stimulate your cat's drinking habits, which is important to maintain healthy urinary tracts.
