Your favorite ProCare and ProCare Mini products have been improved! Weren't they good enough already? Yes, they were. But at Prins, we believe things can always get even better. In this case, not just better, but also more sustainable, so we put as little strain as possible on our environment.

We’d love to tell you what’s new about the packaging and the composition, so you can make informed choices and know exactly what you’re feeding.

New look, more sustainable

ProCare kibbles now come in new, fresh, and attractive packaging. Most of the color blocks on the new packaging remain unchanged, so you can easily find your favorite food.

Advantages of the new packaging

  • Reusable bags: The new ProCare packages are made of a single type of plastic, also known as monoplastic. This makes the bags easier to sort and process into new high-quality plastic. This prevents residual waste and ensures you can create new products from the plastic.
  • Longer freshness and taste: The 3-kilo packages have a handy resealable strip, keeping the kibbles fresh and tasty even after opening. All Prins kibble foods are packed with minimal oxygen to maintain the highest quality.
  • New sizes: ProCare kibbles are now available in 3-kilo, 12-kilo, and 20-kilo bags. The 12-kilo packaging replaces the old 15-kilo packaging, offering a better distribution of quantities to choose from. Additionally, 12-kilo bags are easier to handle in our packaging hall.
  • Cost-effective feeding: The price of the 12-kilo bags includes the costs of improved raw materials and the new reusable packaging. We’ve kept the price as low as possible. Tip: If you feed your dog Prins ProCare Standard Fit, Super Active, or Lamb & Rice, these are available in 20-kilo bags. Choosing such a large bag can help you save even more!

Advantages of the new composition

For even more sustainable kibbles, the recipes have been slightly adjusted and the nutritional value has been increased. Moreover, the improved recipe results in firmer kibbles.

  • Poultry instead of beef: Although there are not many figures for pet food, we know from human products that the environmental impact of beef is quite high. Therefore, for most ProCare foods, we consciously choose poultry: chicken and turkey. The beef protein has been replaced by a higher proportion of poultry, making all kibbles now monoprotein. This means they contain only one animal protein source, just like the hypoallergenic ProCare foods with herring and lamb.
  • Algae oil instead of salmon oil: The salmon oil in the Prins ProCare foods is being replaced by algae oil. Algae oil is derived from easily cultivated microalgae. Fish accumulate important omega-3 fatty acids in their bodies by eating these algae. Using the algae directly, which have a very high omega-3 content, instead of the fish is much more animal-friendly. Very much more animal-friendly, indeed! For a 12-kilo bag of kibbles, no less than 90 fish are needed. Thus, you can really save a lot of animal lives.
  • Firmer kibble, less dust: We prepare pressed food at a lower temperature. This is better for the quality of the raw materials but can result in slightly softer kibbles, which can cause dust at the bottom of the bag. By using slightly more animal proteins and slightly less fat, we can make a firmer kibble without binders.

Kibble color:
Prins does not use colorants. The natural color of the ingredients determines the final color of our foods. Even small recipe changes can slightly change the color of the kibble. So don’t be alarmed if your kibbles look just a bit different!

Innovative new products

Two innovative foods have been added to our ProCare line: an insect-based food and a vegetarian food, ideal for attracting a new audience and for animals with food sensitivities.

Prins ProCare Veggie is a complete vegetarian kibble food for adult dogs made with rice protein. Prins ProCare Insect & Rice is a complete hypoallergenic food for adult dogs based on the larvae of the black soldier fly. The protein sources in these pressed kibbles have less environmental impact than foods with, for example, soybeans and beef.
